Last week in Parliament, MP for Hastings and Rye Amber Rudd asked the Prime Minister to consider the importance of businesses having access to the EU single market following Brexit. She gave an example of a business in her constituency, BD Foods, who wish to invest £2.5 million more into their company but are concerned with uncertainty in EU negotiations.
The Prime Minister answered that her plan in the EU negotiations recognises the importance of protecting businesses and jobs in the UK and offered her reassurance to Amber.
Following PMQs, Amber said: “I was pleased to hear the Prime Minister’s reassurance that businesses will be at the heart of the Government’s negotiating plan for Brexit. I hope that BD Foods in my constituency will still be able to produce their “Full English Brexit” hot sauce, which many of my colleagues here in Parliament have asked for a bottle!”

- “Thank you Mr Speaker. BD Foods in Hastings is a successful food manufacturer and supplies hotels and restaurants. They recently made a very good breakfast sauce, Mr Speaker, called the “Full English Brexit” which I think will be appreciated by many of my colleagues, although it's a little hot for me!
The Chief Executive John Davis has been in touch with me: he would like to invest £2.5 million securing jobs and further investment in the business, but he is concerned about continued access to the single market as we leave the European Union, either through the single market or the common rule book. But could I ask the Prime Minister to bear in mind as she concludes those negotiations, the importance of protecting investment and jobs all over the country.”
