TRANSPORT AND INFRASTRUCTURE IN HASTINGS & Rye will get a new £25 million boost following local MP Amber Rudd’s campaigning within Government.
The money is confirmed today following Amber’s discussions with Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick.
Commenting on the huge new cash boost, Amber said:
“Whenever new funding is discussed in government, I make it my mission to ensure that constituents of Hastings and Rye get the best possible deal from it. It’s no secret that seaside towns like Hastings were left behind during times of recession by previous Labour Governments, but I am delighted that this deserved funding will provide a new sense of optimism and real change for everyone in Hastings.
“Due to the hard work of the British people and a thriving economy, we can afford to spend more on improving public services. Now the funding has been secured from government, I will work with communities, businesses, and local leaders to ensure that the impact of this large investment is maximised and the benefits felt all throughout our town. I will always make the most of my position in government to ensure that my residents come first.”
The new funding announced today comes as part of the government’s £3.6 billion towns fund, aiming to level up and regenerate places with proud industrial and economic heritage which have not benefitted from the same level of economic growth as more prosperous areas.
The transformative investment will go towards improving transport links, infrastructure, technology, culture, and skills of people in Hastings.
