NEW SECRET GARDEN was officially opened by local MP Amber Rudd last week, as part of the Education Futures Trust’s Health and Wellbeing Hub at The Firs development on Elphinstone Road.
Amber Rudd, MP for Hastings and Rye said:
“It was such a privilege to open this newly created beautiful space known as the Secret Garden, which now takes pride of place in an area which was previously just unused scrub land, disused changing rooms and rubble, but which now boasts newly laid concrete groundworks, really attractive planting and a brand new pergola to support climbing plants and to offer shade in the summer.”
“I would like to pay tribute to Carole for inspiring and leading others to help transform a derelict space into such a calm, tranquil and attractive garden, and to thank the volunteers for giving so freely of their time, energy and skills.”
Carole Dixon is the Chief Executive of Education Futures Trust (EFT) received funding from the Clinical Commissioning Group to create the Health and Wellbeing Hub to enable the local community to access services and information and to improve the health and wellbeing of those living locally.
Project Manager, Paul Carter, who has previously worked on developments including the Stade Open Space was appointed to run the project, including clearing the grounds, making good the perimeters and encouraging volunteers to contribute their gardening, landscaping, building, carpentry and groundworks skills.
